Figlut ORM is a command line utility for generating a .NET ORM .DLL for a SQL Server database i.e. an assembly containing classes mapped to each table of a database and properties mapped to the columns of each table. Assemblies are generated using the .NET Framework 4.5.

To install and use Figlut ORM:

  1. Firstly download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.
  2. Download and install the latest version of the Figlut ORM utility from the downloads.
  3. The installer will automatically add the installation folder to the Windows system environment variables, thereby allowing to run the utility from any current directory in the Windows  Command Prompt.
  4. Open a command prompt as administrator and type Figlut.ORM /? to get the help listing all the available switches. You essentially just need to point the Figlut ORM utility to the target database and specify an output directory. N.B. the output directory switch is not mandatory i.e. if not specified the output .DLL will be saved to the current directory.
  5. To point it to a SQL Server database you can either use SQL authentication by specifying the server instance name, database name and credentials, or you can provide your own connection string for windows authentication which will override any server name etc. that you have set.

Below is an example of executing the Figlut ORM utility:
